Growing

A grower in the state of Montana is called a provider or a marijuana-infused product provider. A provider is someone who is registered with the Department of Public Health and Human Services to legally grow or cultivate medicinal marijuana and must be designated and named in the cardholder’s application form. A Marijuana-infused Product Provider (MIPP) is someone who is registered with the department (DPHHS) and must be designated and named by a registered cardholder in the patient’s application form as his MIPP to provide marijuana-infused products. A cardholder (patient) can optionally be a grower too if he would prefer to grow on his own. Providers will be limited to possession twelve seedlings, four mature flowering plants, and 1\one ounce of usable marijuana per approved registered cardholder.

Provider/MIPP applicants must be named by a registered cardholder applicant in order to become a provider/MIPP. An MIPP is limited to growing strictly for the purposes of manufacturing marijuana-infused products, unless separately registered as a provider (who can cultivate marijuana for the purposes of smoking it). A provider or marijuana-infused products provider (MIPP) can have a maximum number of three registered cardholders. If the provider is also a patient, he is limited to two additional cardholders.
