Researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has assessed demographic data of medical patients. The findings of this study appeared on the online publication of the Journal of Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

This is in contrast with the claims of critics who argued most medical patients are in range of late 20’s to early 30’s. In contrast as well with the percentage of juvenile patients across states which only makes up of less than 1%.

The provided data of the research shows this trend in some states:

  • Alaska – 50% of medical cannabis patients are 50 years and older.
  • Nevada – 58% of medical cannabis patients are over 45 years old.
  • Vermont – Under half of medical cannabis patients are over 55 years old.
  • Oregon – 44% of medical cannabis patients are over 50 years old.
